Rethink Aleppo: From Space to place: The city and its homes

Syrbansim was very pleased with its contribution in the #RethinkAleppo event at Pakhuis De Zwijger Amsterdam among such great city lovers from all around the world. Thanks to the great effort from the adorable Umayya, Mari and Michael.

Nour and Edwar founders of Syrbansim conducted the workshop ''From Space to place: The city and its homes'' in Rethink Aleppo on May 5th organized and hosted by Pakhuis De Zwijger Amsterdam and others.

The workshop theme concentrated on the city of Aleppo, which has been recently becoming a crucial area for various urban discussions; divided city discourse, informal settlements, the right to the city of Aleppo, participatory recovery and much more. However, recent developments in Aleppo has called for more actions and less discussions. The idea behind this workshop laid in mapping all actors involved in the urban development of Aleppo, in order to address questions around influence and interests. This didn't aim only to shed light on how to rebuild the city, but also who's the most capable entity to do so.
